About Joy’s Front Porch
The Heart Behind Joy’s Front Porch
Where it all began
Joy’s Front Porch began with something simple.
A kitchen, a warm oven, and the quiet rhythm of baking from scratch.
Karen “Joy” Cannon has spent more than fifty years baking for the people around her. Long before it became a business, baking was how she cared for the people around her.
Homemade breads cooling on the counter, sweet treats wrapped for neighbors, jars of seasonal preserves made slowly and shared generously.

Over the years, life brought both joy and deep loss. After losing both her husband and her firstborn daughter, baking became more than a tradition. It became a place of healing.
A way to keep love present at the table and a way to keep memories alive through the things she makes with her hands.
Joy’s Front Porch grew from that spirit.
Every loaf of bread, every baked good, and every jar of preserves is made in small batches using simple ingredients and the kind of care that only comes from experience and love. Nothing rushed. Nothing complicated. Just honest baking the way it has always been done.

Today, with the help of her daughter Heather, Joy’s Front Porch is growing into a small local bakery built on those same values. With plans to expand weekly baking, serve more families throughout the community, and continue showing up at local markets and seasonal events, the heart of the porch remains the same.
It is a place where people come together.
Where something warm is always waiting on the table.
And where joy is meant to be shared.
Baking for more than 50 years in Jasper, Texas.
Why Joy’s Front Porch
A front porch has always been a place where people pause, talk, and share what they have. Joy’s Front Porch was created with that same spirit in mind.
Fresh bread, baked goods, and small batch treats made from scratch, meant to be shared with family, neighbors, and the community.
Joy’s Front Porch now brings those same homemade traditions to local markets and events. From barn sales to festivals to community gatherings, the mission stays the same to offer something warm, simple, and made with care.
